Alabama Medicare Assistance Programs
Alabama’s Medicare Assistance programs include Medicaid, which is a state funded program. This Medicaid program helps individuals who cannot afford to pay their health care out of their own pockets. Alabama residents with low income who meet certain eligibility requirements may qualify. In addition, a Low Income Subsidy or LIS is also available to those who qualify for Medicaid.
Alabama also offers other assistance programs such as PACE, the Programs of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly. The PACE program helps those with most health care needs if they cannot afford them. There is the State Health Insurance Program or SHIP, which provides various counseling services as well as Medicare Savings Plan and other assistance programs.
