Rhode Island Medicare Assistance Programs
Medicare assistance programs are also available to eligible Rhode Island Medicare enrollees. These programs can help residents of Rhode Island cover the out-of-pocket costs and other related medical expenses.
RIte Care, RIte Share and Medical Assistance Fee-For-Service are the Rhode Island state funded medical assistance programs, known as Medicaid. This program helps eligible low-income Medicare recipients with medical expenses. Rhode Island also offers a prescription drug discount card, which can help lower the cost of out-of-pocket expenses incurred by prescriptions drugs.
Rhode Island also offers the Senior Health Insurance Program, or SHIP, which is run by the Department of Elderly Affairs, Information and Education Division. This program offers counseling services to those individuals who qualify for Medicare but need help with the Medicare information or determining which program is right for them.
