Medicare Part B

What is Medicare Part B?

Part B is the second part of Medicare Parts A & B coverage. While Medicare Part A covers hospital expenses, Medicare Part B coverage helps pay for certain non-hospital services that are deemed to be medically necessary.

We’ll show all Medicare plans in your area with just a ZIP code.

Does Medicare Part B include premiums?

Unlike Medicare Part A coverage, Medicare Part B requires  many individuals to pay a monthly premium. If you are not eligible for the standard premium for any reason, you will be notified by the Social Security Administration.

What does Medicare Part B cover?

Medicare Part B coverage covers two general types of services: health care services that are deemed to be “medically necessary,” as well as preventive health care services.

Preventive health care includes things such as pap smears and flu shots, or anything else that can prevent an illness or result in early detection.

Important: You must have the basics of Medicare – both Parts A & B – before you can explore Medicare Supplement and Medicare Advantage options.
